Baby Shower Cake Designs - NJ Custom Cake Bakery

We all enjoy making a fuss over a new baby, even before the little bundle of joy arrives! We 'shower' the parents-to-be with well wishes and gifts. Not only is a baby shower a way to congratulate the parents, it also helps family and friends feel connected to the big event.

A baby shower indubitably calls for something sweet! At Confectionary Designs we consider it an honor to create cakes and dessert tables for our clients' showers, and we love working with them to create a unique design that works with their theme.

About Us: Confectionary Designs is a boutique bakery located in Northern New Jersey. We specialize in delicious and amazingly detailed custom cakes for all of life's special occasions.

"It's A Girl" Baby Shower Dessert Table

This vintage baby shower dessert table was designed for an intimate gathering of the expecting mother’s family and friends. We created a custom-designed gift box cake, sugar cookies, chocolate bon-bons, a chocolate box filled with sugared almonds, cake truffles, mint cream filled chocolate eggs, and hand-dipped madeleine cookies.

Flowers and Food: Sugar, Silk, or Real?

At our New Jersey bakery we are obsessed with following, if not exceeding, our local health codes especially when it comes to sanitation. Everything used for our cakes is either edible or food safe items (e.g. dowels to support cake tiers, etc....).

I tend to cringe when a client wants to put fresh or silk flowers on a cake. Many fresh flowers are covered in pesticides, some being quite toxic, and most silk flowers are not made with food safe materials.

We always recommend our clients opt for sugarpaste flowers. The first reason for this is we know we are providing a cake that is safe for our clients to consume. The second reason being it is aesthetically pleasing to look at a cake and know everything you see is completely edible!

Listerine Cake

We were asked to make a cake for Johnson & Johnson for one of their employees celebrating an anniversary. She worked in the personal care division and this is what we came up with (luckily they didn't ask for a box of Tucks!). The cake was made by carving two sheet cakes to the shape of the bottle, covering in Satin Ice Rolled Fondant - White - Vanilla - 2 lb, adding the bottle top, and applying an edible image.
